Many people contact us asking what exactly Paintball is. Paintball and Airsoft are team sports; however, you don’t need to bring in your own team to play here. There are always other players, aka “weekend warriors” that frequent Paintball USA Palmdale. https://www.paintballusa.org/
The game itself is where two teams will use gelatin filled colorful Paintballs shot out of an air gun, (Paintball marker), at a speed of 260 feet per second. When hit, it feels like a bee sting if you are wearing short sleeves or have exposed skin. This is why we recommend dressing in layers, long sleeves, pants gloves, neck protection, and a hat of some kind. Neck coolers made out of soft cotton have little gel filled plastic beads enclosed, so when you soak the protector in cold water, the beads soak up the water that keeps you cool during summer games.
Most games are Capture the Flag where the players on the opposing team are trying to advance to their opponents’ flag station without their team getting hit. There are bunkers on each playing field to hide behind so you can avoid getting hit.
The referees explain safety rules, game strategies, and take you over to the target range making sure you know how to use your gun and test the gun to make sure it is shooting properly. While the games are going on, a referee will watch the players making sure everyone is playing fairly and no one gets hurt.
Multiple outdoor playing fields keep players engaged with various styles of bunkers and terrain. If your friends can’t come with you to Paintball, you will be placed on a team with other players of similar skill level. More advanced skill level players that bring in their own custom guns will play with other self- equipped people. Most Paintball Parks are outdoors. Few are indoors. Team sports are a great way to make new friends with similar interests.
When you get hit with a Paintball and the hit is visible, a referee will call you out. The games are continually going on all day. Each last between 10-20 minutes. If you are celebrating a Paintball Birthday Party or other festivity, all you need to have is ten participants and you can have private matches at no additional charge.
The number of players on a field in a game at once can vary. It’s usually about 10 on 10. You don’t have to play every game. Feel free to sit out at any time for a break. Air Soft games are very similar to Paintball. The main difference is, Air Soft guns shoot out plastic pellets or BB’s instead of Paintballs. Air Soft guns do not require a heavy compressed air tank on the butt of the gun. Air Soft is a cleaner team sport because BB’s do not leave a sticky residue like Paintballs when they break.
