Airsoft & Paintball Explained

Paintball USA Palmdale now offer Airsoft rental packages. Airsoft is like being in a real to life video game. When hit with an Airsoft pellet, it hurts less than a Paintball. It’s kind of like a bee sting where Paintball is more of a thump that can leave bruises and welts if you aren’t wearing enough layers. https://www.paintballusa.org/

As with Paintball, we offer the best Airsoft Birthday Parties at Paintball USA! There are multiple outdoor playing fields with referees explaining the safety rules and regulations. If you have at least ten players, you can have your own private Paintball or Airsoft Birthday Party. Private games are at no additional cost. https://www.paintballusa.org/pricing

Paintballs weigh more than Airsoft pellets. Paintballs are filled with a gel-like substance which makes them heavier. Airsoft pellets are made of plastic. They are tiny and light weight so less pain when hit, however, they can still cause small welts depending on how close the opposing player shoots you and what you are wearing. For sure, they hurt on bare skin. BBs used in a BB gun are metal, so they hurt worse than a plastic pellet.

There are different weights you can purchase 6mm Airsoft pellets. The heavier the weight, the greater the distance it can travel. Standard Airsoft guns shoot from 120-180 feet, where upgraded more high-powered guns hit targets with better accuracy 250-300 feet away. Not only do the pellet’s weight have the longer-range effect, it also depends on the gun.

Airsoft guns run on battery power, meaning they need to be charged before and in between usage. The average gun can run out of battery power between 1,000-2,000 shots. Batteries come in NiMH Nickel Metal Hydride of LiPO Lithium Polymer. Nickel batteries are better for beginner player’s guns. Lithium has better power density and a longer range of shots, although, lithium batteries are more susceptible to fires if charged to long or kept in a heated storage container.

It is recommended to wear layers of clothing for Airsoft just like you would for Paintball. Airsoft self-equipped players wear military tactical looking clothing. Paintball players that have their own custom guns are sometimes on Paintball leagues that play in tournaments. In that case, they tend to wear team jerseys, yet, both Airsoft and Paintball players should wear the recommended clothes to have fun and stay safe.

  • Dress in layers, weather permitting.
  • Cover up. You can always take off jackets & sweatshirts later on.
  • Knee pads & elbow pads really help for players that like to slide behind bunkers.
  • Skull wraps that have a soft, padded, lining that buffer the hit & absorb sweat.
  • Airsoft lightweight, non-ballistic bump helmets, future assault shell technology.
  • Chest protectors of any kind.
  • Paintball safety masks, rather than the metal mesh lower mask & goggles for Airsoft.
  • Cooling neck wraps.

Paintball USA requires our Airsoft players to wear the safety regulated Paintball mask rather than the metal lower mask and goggles that are specifically for Airsoft. This is required for the player’s protection.

As mentioned, dress in layers is recommended in all climates. A few tips on how to stay cool in the warmer months, bring an ice chest with plenty of waters and sports drinks. The cooling neck wraps are a great way to stay cool during Airsoft and Paintball games. They absorb up to five times their weight in moisture when soaking them in cold water.
